In 1871, America's Forgotten Fire raged through Peshtigo and the surrounding areas...
You may not remember the fire...but you WILL remember the wine.
Forgotten Fire Winery - Est. 2011
Forgotten Fire Winery was opened by Joe and Lindsay Callow on October 1, 2011. A visit to Rose Valley Winery in Michigan led to a fateful meeting with an elderly winemaker and winery owner named Adam. Adam expressed how his passion had led him to starting his own winery, and how easy it would be for the Callows to do the same. Joe and Lindsay quickly found themselves believing that Adam had too much to drink that day. Nonetheless, after a few years of research, license applications, winemaking internships, and tears, Forgotten Fire Winery was born. Many friends and family helped the winery become what it is today. Two of those friends, Chris and Melissa Joppe, now own and operate the winery, while sharing the same passion to make great wine to share with friends and family.
Named in honor of the Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871, the winery sits on land located in the town of Peshtigo, though the actual address is in Marinette.
Forgotten Fire Winery began with just five acres of land, four white wines, three red wines and the dreams of success. Forgotten Fire Winery now sits on 20 acres and offers over 30 wines, several hard ciders, craft soda and a variety of wine-related gift items in the tasting room. Stop in and try some for yourself. You may not remember the fire, but you will remember the wine!
